A mordant is something that combines with the dye to fix it to the material.
Mordants for dyeing:
- Vinegar
- salt
- Alum
- Iron solution (before and after dyeing)
- Copper solution
- test ashes solution – Juniper ashes 1 cup to 2 cups of water. Tested 3 cups to 12 cups water for goldenrod dye.
